Hi,
In the Help for Illustrator CS2, it says:

"Note: You may receive an error message when saving artwork that includes linked EPS files, if those files were saved in binary format (for example, in Photoshop's default EPS format). In this case, resave the EPS files in ASCII format, embed the linked files into the Illustrator artwork, or save the artwork in AI or PDF format instead of EPS format."

but I can't find how to specify ASCII format when saving a file. What am I missing/doing wrong?

Best wishes, Adrian

Best wishes, AdrianThat instruction is referring to resaving the PhotoShop EPS file in ASCII format. When you tell Photoshop to save a file in EPS format, you get a second dialog that allows you to choose ascii, binary or a couple other things.

If you have an EPS file that was originally created in Illustrator, don't place it--open the illustartor file and copy and paste it.

One should avoid placing EPS files into files that will themselves become EPS file--universally--it causes all sorts of nastiness at output time.
