View Full Version : Ad tracking/DAM software?
Is anyone using ad tracking or Digital Asset Mgmt software in their publishing operation? We're a newspaper/Magazine publisher and it's time for us to look at this type of system.
We currently have Portfolio/server and are using it to catalog photos and ad elements such as logos, etc, but I want more of a tracking/status reporting system for our ROP and CD ads.
To give you an idea, Managing Editor's "Roundhouse" system looks attractive to me. <http://www.maned.com/products/roundhouse/>
What are others using? I have till September to get a budget and operational plan together.
Ta.

I've just heard about Meta Communications' "Digital Storage Manager" (http://www.meta-comm.com/products/digital_storage_manager/) and am completely surprised that I never knew about the company, which just so happens to be no more than 25 minutes from our driveway.
Have you come up with any additional DAM software candidates? The project I may be looking at is creating a massive archive of photos and other images, and text files and PDFs that need to be linked (if, by nothing else, keywords) to the images within that database. It's a history/archiving project, eventually to be made available to researchers via museum or library.

We're currently using Portfolio, but my focus right now is more on ad tracking systems.

Not really, I was a little unclear in my original post.
I will be checking out Digital Storage Manager... It looks quite interesting and the starting price is very attractive. Thanks!

I'm trying to get from what's there about it whether one must have client software to search and view the database or if a browser do the trick. I suspect that client software would be fine (if freely distributable like Acrobat Reader) to start out, but eventually it would have to be accessible to anyone with a modern browser. Since the company is so close by, I'll probably just show up on their doorstep one of these days and ask questions in person.

I'm not a Portfolio user but a friend of mine maintains this:

Might be worth a peek at some leisure moment or twenty

I figured you probably knew/knew of him already. He's good people. He uses my software to maintain his FAQ and has given me wonderful feedback on it over the years.

Definitely good people. He's even gone so far as to use his direct contacts at Extensis to help me troubleshoot.
Does he know about this place?
