After years of trying to get technology to work - if it really matters to you ask for machine proofs and get the printer to keep the plates. If you send corrections in and/or the printer remakes the plates there could be problems. As I said if it matters to you and you carry the can if the job goes wrong there is no other alternative.

Also get the printer to make up the machine proofs - in fact think of them as a pre inspection copy .

Sounds like you had a bad day, old chap...
Here's something to cheer you up: we've recently done a job for one of the A-level exam boards. It's a CD-ROM with a printed wallet to help the examiners decide how to award marks to students' papers. The subject: English. The problem: spelling mistake, for heaven's sake! The result: get Robin to reprint the whole bloody lot!!
