Congrats to staff member Terrie LaBarbera — her digital portrait of the Arabian mare Nimbus has been included in the contributing artists gallery in the new Painter XI Wow! book by Cher Threinen-Pendarvis (Peachpit Press).
Terrie is the forum’s go-to person for information on printers, inks, and imaging software. She’s also been known to drool over cool new fonts. But now we are reminded that she is also an artist, who creates digital portraits of people, dogs, cats, horses — “anyone notable in your life.” She works from client-supplied photos, paintings, or other artwork, and makes prints on acid-free, heavyweight paper using archival inks.
She has made a Nimbus page (http://tlbtlb.com/tlbimages/nim.html) showing and explaining the technique behinid the portrait. (You can also download the customized Painter brushes Terrie used.)
Terrie’s web site (http://tlbtlb.com/) is generally worth a visit. She has posted thumbnails of her recent portrait work, a portfolio of handsome greeting cards featuring Asian images, and other examples of her varied artwork.
