Google.co.uk has a very odd banner logo today. Normally it's possible to click on special designs to find out why they're there. Today it isn't possible to click on it.

Today the UK site's logo looks very much like today's weather.

Google US is in color as is google uk--it's about 5pm eastern US--midnight-ish your time?Without checking, I think 5 pm eastern US should be only about 10 pm in the UK. But I don't know when Google changes its logo for the next day ... perhaps we missed the grey one?

Are you going to www.google.com? If you're going to some other Google address, you may not see the special changes. I saw both the dots and today, the grayscale Google. The colors returned later in the day.

The Eastern US is five hours behind the UK--sometimes 4 hours depending on Daylight Saving Time anomalies.

It's all been leading up to the announcement today of Google Instant. Here's a Mashable article (http://mashable.com/2010/09/08/google-instant-poll/) I just read.

The dancing dots were apparently generated using HTML5 and some CSS3 so were only fully visible to those who used 5/3 capable browsers. I noticed that the dots were larger and faster on Chrome and Firefox than on IE8.

It sure got a lot of coverage!

I thought the time difference between Eastern US and UK was 7 hours?Without considering Daylight Saving Time, our part of the U.S. is GMT minus 5.
For 7, you need to be in the Mountain region (Denver, say).

You can also go into your User CP here, to Options > Date & Time Options, and check time zones there. Sometimes that’s quicker, though more limited.
