Hi,

Being someone who is still (quite) happily using QXP 3.x and don't even own InDesign... I was curious now that I am teaching this history of graphic design...

I know it always *was* that QXP could only place TIF or EPS images, not JPGs. Has that changed in subsequent QXP upgrades and/or is it possible in InDesign to "see" JPGs?

Just curious as I teach the history and wanted to be able to give accurate facts in case this question comes up in the last chapter next quarter...

thanx in advance

k

(no not interested in upgrading thank you)InDesign will see JPEGs, but cannot be guaranteed to output them correctly. See my recent plaintive thread (http://desktoppublishingforum.com/bb/showthread.php?t=278&highlight=cmyk+jpeg) on the subject here.

For any who didn't read the plaintive thread, perhaps we should clarify that the problem, specifically, was with CMYK JPEGs.

An XTension for JPEGs was available for 3.32, and probably earlier. (I have v2.0 of it, which says © 1993-1996.)

and/or is it possible in InDesign to "see" JPGs?

Yes.
