I have a private message folder, and I would like to create another one, but I cannot figure out how to create a new folder. I could file a hardware message in my AOL folder, but somehow that doesn't appeal to me.
Am I limited to 50 private messages overall, regardless of folder? I think so, but you can confirm it.

To create a new folder, go to the last item in the Private Messages panel in your User CP. Type in the name you want to use, and it should appear in your list.

I have created two new folders, and transferred two inbox messages to one of the new folders.
Can I transfer sent messages to a different folder? I don't see how to do that.
The heading still says I am limited to 50 messages, and I have 32 messages, so I don't follow your statement that a member is limited to 100 private messages. Maybe I am missing something.

As for the total allowed, I think you are right; I misread something when I said it was 100 messages. Sorry — we will change it to 100 shortly.

Now your limit should be 100. Let me know if not. Thanks.

I do not see how you can move messages around either. Will look into it.I'm having the same problem - it's quite awkward not to be able to keep received messages and replies to them together in the same folder. It would be great if the system could be adapted to allow that!

Yes, my limit is now 100. Thank you for the change. Let us know if you find out how to save sent messages in a different folder.

To move them, have a feeling it cannot be done, but I am looking into it.
Let us know if you find out how to save sent messages in a different folder.Assuming you have created private message folders ("Edit Folders" under "Private Messages") select the messages to move, leave "Move to Folder..." as the selection and click the "Go" button taking you to a screen where you select the destination folder.

Sorry guys, Gary knows. Do what he says, and you will be happy. (You select items by clicking on the box at the right, and choose the action from the drop-down at the bottom of the screen.)
Thanks, Gary.
Oh, good grief! What’s wrong with me!?Nothing, I just refused to believe they would leave out that capability.
I don't necessarily agree with the implementation but neither do I have time and motivation to offer a fix.

Something is still wrong for me. I can do just what Gary says, but the choice of saving in a folder doesn't come up for me. See the attachment, which shows two messages checked off, and the drop-down menu choices. Perhaps there is a setting somewhere, KT?

The first item in my drop-down menu is Move to Folder... — which is what Gary sees as well.
Not sure what to think about this now. Try with another browser (or quit and restart the browser) — see if that helps.

KT: Same thing in three browsers. Previous attachment was Firefox, here are IE and Opera as attachments. I will try again in my other XP boot, but I doubt there will be any difference. I can save Inbox messages just as you and Gary describe, but not sent messages. Strange.

That is odd. I will enquire about it. Cannot think of a workaround, either (except to place messages you are sending in a folder, then copy received messages into it). Doesn’t help with old ones, though.
Thanks.
Arrgggh! Missed the "Sent Message" detail.
It looks like a simple matter of generating the correct POST
action = private.php?do=movem
s=
do=movem
messageids=a:#:{i:####;i:####;}
folderid=##
where
# =number of messages
i:####;i:####; = one pair for each moving message number (why duplicated??)
## = target folder id
I suspect that messages in the "Sent" folder may have the recipient listed rather than the sender - might not help to have ten messages identified as from you but with no clue as to who the recipient was (other than by context).
