Just bought an Epson 4000 but had a bad experience upon installation trying to get accurate color with the ColorBurst RIP.
Can you people out there offer you opinions on what's the best RIP to get forr this printer. Applications are prepress proofing (as opposed to printing photography).
Thanx.

Thanx.Terrie's got a 4000, but she's sleeping the sleep of the bu^h^hjust at the moment. I'm sure she'll reply when she comes back into the forum in the morning.

look at the Best Color rip. If you are on a macintosh, they have a "designer" version that is a thousand bucks less than the professional version.

Is this the ColorBurst RIP that you can buy with the 4000 or the "retail" version of the CB RIP???

If the bundled version, I've not heard good things about it as it is tailored specifically for the 4000, you can't use custom profiles and there is no upgrade path to the full/retail version...

Soooo...if this is the bundled version, you might take a look at the full/retail version...you might also take a look at ImagePrint and Best RIPS (Photo or Designer)

I don't use a RIP so I'm going by what I've read on Apple's ColorSync-Users list...

Hope this helps...
