... but I have to get this Mac up and running again before my troops get back into the studio on Wednesday. The hard disk died on our last day before Christmas, and I'm reinstalling everything onto a spare drive. <sigh>

Just got as far as Frustrator CS2: activated and registered OK, but nothing happens when I choose Updates from the Help menu. I've reinstalled, rebooted, repaired permissions (they were OK), even had a glass of fizz, all to no avail! Any ideas?

I can update from the Adobe website (to v12.0.1), but I'm concerned that the installation might not be performing peroperly.

I hope not, as you might have to wait until Tuesday to reach anyone able to unravel that at Adobe.

Another glass of fizz is definitely called for, in my opinion!

I wonder if you are running into a problem because you were not able to unregister from the dead drive before reinstallingI managed to update it OK manually, and Photoshop and InDesign both run the Adobe updater app when I click on Help:Updates, so I reckon it's a broken link in Frustrator.

Anyway, we're off to a party (finally) so ENOUGH OF BLOODY COMPUTERS for today at least! Happy New Year, Kathleen! xx

At Macintouch.com (http://www.macintouch.com) recently I remember discussion of Adobe Creative Suite and "poisonous" filenames that caused odd problems. I don't remember the conclusion, but a search there might yield something helpful.

I need to go grate cheese, myself — we have friends here and we are going to have fondue to end this wretched year. With bubbles, natch.

Everyone should stamp out 2005 with vigor! Happy new year (out with the old one!)
