That sounds like exactly the printer I need. When I go to horse shows, other photographers offer prints on the spot, but I have to come home and wait for the orders to come in. Which they are doing, now that I put ugly red PROOF watermarks on all the photos. People just ignored the neat little copyright notices I used to put over the top of the image.

wonder when/if it will be released down here.

It might be a bit big if you were going to take it to shows...do people want prints larger than 8x10" (or whatever the metric equivalent is)? For 8x10, the R800 might be a better printer...this new printer is essentially the larger version of the R800...

Oh yeah...people are tacky...'-}}

Not sure...so far, no one knows the release date...I'd bet late March/early April here in the States...when I find out, I'll post an update...

I've seen a UK release date of April and a price of £399.

It's on my wish-list already.

It's on my wish-list already.Nothing on the Epson Australia site a few days ago. I'll keep an eye on it, though. Your price indicates that I should be able to get one for around $1100, which would be good.

The only Oz mention I could find on the web using Google was from www.photoreview.com.au/ but I couldn't get their pages to load. I got:

Runtime Error

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

It will have to wait until Monday, or I'll look for another Australian reference. I haven't checked the Epson Australia site for a few days.

Where did you see this? I checked the Epson UK site and don't see anything...

If it's going to be released in the UK in April it will probably be June before it's released here in the States...

Decided to do a google search and it's been announced at PMA (PhotoMarketing Association meeting in Orlando, FL right now...

I've seen it referred to in PHOTOFORUM on Compuserve as a wide version of the R800 that users there seem to like very much.

And I have seen a reference to April for here in the USA ..... and likely to be in short supply.

Sorry, I can't remember. I did a search on google.co.uk and found a reference there.

Hang on! Just tried again and found http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news.php?newsId=947

And Epson's press release gives the same date at:
http://www.epson.co.uk/news_events/press_releases/details/StylusPhoto_R1800.htm

The US press release at
http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/?epi_menuItemID=1cd823fd3a51cf8869a8cccae6908a0c&epi_menuID=c791260db682611740b28e347a808a0c&epi_baseMenuID=384979e8cc48c441ef0130f5c6908a0c&vnsId=662

gives a US release date of March.

If they stick to that it will be great. It'll give you a chance to test it out before I commit to buying one!

>>Mike: gives a US release date of March.

Yeah...suppliers are supposed to get shipments in March 15th...as much as I'm loathe to mention them after the fiasco I had with inkjetart.com and my 4000--so much so that I will never do business with them again--that's where I got the info. The R1800 is NOT considered a replacement for the 2200 but for the 1280 which is interesting...
