I have just seen an revue (really almost an advertisement) of Albrecht Dürer: Das druckgraphische Werk, which is vol. 3, 'Book illustrations' of a multi-volume work. Vol. 3 has 575 pp. and costs €125.00; its publisher is Prestel Verlag, Munich.

The book contains accounts of Dürer's perspective drawings, lettering drawings, and numerous illustrations he did for two books.

The book is in German, of course, and is rather expensive, but you might be able to borrow it from a library. Dürer didn't use any software, but he got good results.
