Does anyone have any advice on how I can draw a ribbon in either illustrator or photoshop? You know the ones that people might have on their cars (bumper stickers) for cancer or something of the sort? Well I need to draw something that looks like that except make the loop part a heart. Any ideas?

In Photoshop (I'm using 7), choose the Pen tool and then in the options bar, click on the custom shape tool (looks like an amoeba and is the last option on the right)...then click to open the shape tool drop down (to the right of the custom shape tool) and scroll down and look for "ribbon 2".
You could use this as the base for what you need to do...there may be other shape options which you can load by clicking on the right pointing arrow in the shape tool drop down...
Hope this helps...

By asking it to show All shapes, I found Ribbon 2, which does look pretty close. Really, considering the popularity of these things, there ought to be a perfect shape!
I know of nothing so simple and useful in Illustrator (but I still use it as if it were version 3!) The new auto-trace would help him, though, if he has a drawing or printed image to start with.

I was quite astonished myself! I had no clue that was there. It was definitely helpful. Thanks!!

Several of those pen shapes look useful. Wonder why they don’t include them in Illustrator. (Or maybe they do — I never pay attention to the new features.)

I stumbled across it a couple of years ago when I needed a postage stamp for a design I was creating--see below, it was a digital postcard to announce the birth of her mare's first foal...I had a lot of fun creating it...used one of my equine clipart images for the stamp
There are a lot of pretty nifty goodies in there...

I wonder how much else I miss by sort of doing things the way I always did them. Guess I should explore the software. In my spare time...

Thanks...the cool thing is that Lynne is still using it to send various shots of her absolutely stunning horses and on her website--baby Twix (http://www.photo.lynnesite.com/gallery/131476) and yearling Twix (http://www.photo.lynnesite.com/gallery/478276)--so it's worked out quite nicely...
Lynne is a wonderful photographer...this page (http://www.photo.lynnesite.com/gallery/553923) has some incredible shots...

I know the feeling...one gets used to approaching things in the way that is most comfortable (and probably the quickest)...

I suppose that follows the motto, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," but I usually learn new things by reading books or articles, not just by playing around with the software itself.

But I profess to being busy and lazy! Like you, I am usually alerted to something I may be missing by articles, comments from friends, or threads here!
Tsk!
