View Full Version : Corel KnockOut 2 -- is it a knockout?

Corel is tempting me with an offer of CorelDraw 12 (although I don't really use CorelDraw any more, I do still occasionally receive ad files done in CorelDraw, and my current version is 9, which won't open the newer files) including two freebies: KPT Collections (probably useless, but fun) and KnockOut 2.
Anyone use KnockOut 2? How is it?

I do...not frequently but enough that I'm glad I have it...works pretty well--better than Photoshop's extract (at least v7 of Photoshop's extract)...

What's extract??
I don't think I've ever used it. I'm not sure I ever heard of it!

What's extract??Look in the Filters menu of Photoshop. It is a tool for removing backgrounds.
As for KnockOut, I have it and I've used it. It is the best at what it does. Also, the most difficult to use. Great to have on hand if you run into a situation where it is really needed. But I went so long without using it I finally took it off the menu.

I looked at it, but it wasn't obvious to me how it worked, so I quit looking. <g>

Hmmm, I'm not good at difficult-to-use software. Maybe I should skip it.

It's not that hard to use...particularly if you are getting free...'-}}

The deal is the CorelDraw 12 update (box version) for $154, and free KPT Collections and KnockOut2 (media only, which I assume means no manuals).
I'm still trying to decide if I really need any of this stuff!

I wouldn't mind having CD12...there wasn't really much of a manual for KO...whatever there was is probably a pdf on the cd...

I'm still trying to decide if I really need any of this stuff!You need Draw to open the latest files that you receive. You need KnockOut so you don't have to wonder if you should have grabbed it while you had the chance. And you need KPT if you want to complete the fuzzy bunny tutorial (http://angiesart.tripod.com/tutorials/bunny/bunny.html).
